Kim O’Brien for Commissioner-at-Large

Kim O’Brien is a lifelong educator and community service volunteer who always puts children first. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University Teachers College, Kim speaks three languages: English, Spanish, and Russian. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Kim spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Russia teaching English in the local Russain school, Kriovsky School #1. She also facilitated teacher training workshops and planned cross-cultural activities to bridge the divide between the two countries. After returning from her international service, Kim taught in the New York City School District for 2 years before joining the Absecon School District in 2000. Since 2007, Kim has worked in the Somers Point School District teaching Spanish and ESL and has never interrupted her volunteer work.  Kim was a Girl Scout leader for 5 years for both of her daughters’ troops.  Kim has been her school district’s Pride Chair for 11 years, overseeing $15,000 each year in school grants from the NJEA.  As Green Team Leader for the district, the Dawes Avenue and New York Avenue schools became certified as a Sustainable New Jersey School. In her spare time, Kim is a member of the Somers Point Green Team and volunteers her time for many community events on the Mainland. Kim and her husband, Mike, live in Somers Point and have two daughters in college.

Habib Rehman for Commissioner At-Large

Habib Rehman is a 28-year resident of Atlantic County, where he has shown time and again the meaning of success through hard work and dedication. Starting his business career in retail imports and exports industries, Habib later built and managed his family businesses in Atlantic City and serves as a member of various local business organizations and retail associations. As a community leader, Habib has spent twenty years helping local communities to organize social, cultural, and religious events while also serving as a mentor to other entrepreneurs establishing their own businesses. Rehman is eager to utilize his degrees in Engineering and Computer Information Systems to promote economic growth and innovation as an Atlantic County Commissioner, where he will bring his many years of experience in managing assets, budgets, and payrolls, to employ fiscal responsibility and ensuring no tax dollar is spent needlessly. Rehman lives in Egg Harbor Township with his wife, Faiza, and four sons, Abdul Rahman, Abdul Jabbar, Muhammad Abdullah, and Abdul Wahab.
